Christine Nyabuto

Dr. Christine Nyabuto is a dedicated resident doctor specializing in plastic and reconstructive surgery at Kenyatta National Hospital. Driven by a passion for advancing surgical techniques and mentoring future surgeons, Dr. Nyabuto combines a deep well of experience with a commitment to excellence in her field. She is currently pursuing her Master’s degree in Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery at the University of Nairobi, where she also completed her Bachelor of Medicine and Surgery in 2016.

Dr. Nyabuto’s professional trajectory features significant roles across prestigious medical institutions. She has served as a Medical Officer in Charge at the National Spinal Injury Referral Hospital, where she managed medical officers’ duty schedules and organized Continuous Medical Education (CME) sessions. Her experience at Nairobi West Hospital included similar responsibilities, ensuring effective medical operations and educational initiatives. During her internship at Kiambu Level 6 Hospital, she provided comprehensive outpatient and inpatient care while also mentoring undergraduate medical students from Kenyatta University.

With a keen interest in breast and reconstructive surgery, Dr. Nyabuto is actively expanding her expertise in these specialized areas. Her leadership roles include serving as the Plastic Surgery Master’s Class Representative for the Class of 2025, Deputy Chief Resident for the year 2023/2024, and contributing to the organization of significant events such as the annual Microsurgery Workshop, the 2024 Finalist Dinner, and the 2022 Burn Symposium in Nakuru. Her dedication to education and mentorship is evident through her coordination of ward tutorials during her undergraduate studies and her ongoing efforts to inspire future medical professionals.

Dr. Nyabuto also plays a vital role in the medical community through her active participation in various committees. She is a member of the Outreach Committee for the Kenya Society of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery (KSPRAS), serves as the Organizing Secretary for the Wound Care Society of Kenya, and was involved in the development of the first Wound Care Guidelines book. Her significant contributions to the Nairobi Microsurgery Workshop Committee have been instrumental in organizing two internationally recognized microsurgery conferences in Kenya. Additionally, Dr. Nyabuto has participated in orthoplastic workshops, further enhancing her professional development and broadening her expertise.
